Complete the Enrollment Application
The enrollment window is now open. Submit a complete enrollment application through our online portal. Applications are accepted during our designated enrollment period each year.

Lottery
(If Necessary)
If applications exceed available seats, we conduct a random, transparent lottery in accordance with Colorado charter school law.

Confirmation
Families of selected students will receive enrollment packets and must complete all required documentation by the specified deadline to secure their child's seat.
Enrollment Requirements
1. AGE
Age Requirements
Kindergarten: Students must be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2026
1st Grade: Students must be 6 years old on or before August 1, 2026
2. RESIDENCY
Colorado Residency
As a public charter school, MCA is open to all Colorado residents. Enrollment preference is given to students residing within Montrose County School District boundaries.
3. DOCUMENTS
Documentation Needed
Once your child is offered enrollment, you will need to provide:

Proof of Age: Birth certificate or passport

Proof of Residency: Utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage statement showing Colorado address

Immunization Records: Current Colorado immunization certificate or valid exemption

Previous School Records: Report cards and transcripts (for students entering grades 1-5)

IEP or 504 Plan: If applicable, to ensure appropriate support services

Enrollment Policies

LOTTERY INFORMATION
In the event that the number of applications received during the enrollment period exceeds the number of available seats, Montrose Classical Academy will conduct a random lottery in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Enrollment Preferences:
Colorado law allows charter schools to provide the following enrollment preferences:
1. Students residing within Montrose County School District boundaries
2. Siblings of currently enrolled students
3. Children of MCA staff members and board members (up to 20% of enrollment capacity)
4. All other Colorado residents
Lottery Process:

The lottery will be conducted publicly with transparent procedures

All applicants will be assigned a random number

Students will be selected in random order

Families will be notified of lottery results within 48 hours
Waitlist: Students not selected in the initial lottery will be placed on a waitlist in the order they were drawn. If seats become available throughout the year, families on the waitlist will be contacted in order and offered the opportunity to attend.
Lottery Procedures:
Random Selection: Our lottery uses a computerized random number generator to ensure fairness and transparency.

Public Process: The lottery is conducted publicly via our SchoolMint application and lottery software.
Preference Categories: Students are selected within preference categories as defined by Colorado law and our charter agreement.

Notification: All families who submitted applications will be notified of their lottery status within 48 hours of the lottery and asked to either accept or decline the seat their student was offered.
Waitlist Information:
Waitlist Management:
Students not initially selected are placed on a waitlist in the order drawn during the lottery.

Seat Offers:
As seats become available, families on the waitlist are contacted in order and given 72 hours to accept or decline the offer.
