Kristie Donathan

My name is Kristie Donathan, and I’m honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Montrose Classical Academy. I grew up in Denver and moved to Colorado’s Western Slope in 1992, making Delta my home. Over the years, I’ve worked in education throughout Delta, Grand Junction, and Montrose.

My journey began in early childhood education and led me to earn a BA in Elementary Education, followed by a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction—both from Colorado Christian University. As I transitioned into elementary school teaching, I developed a passion for leadership and continued my studies at Colorado Mesa University in Educational Leadership. Later, I deepened my focus on inclusive education through an Early Childhood Special Education Masters at the University of Northern Colorado.

I dedicated 25 years to public education, serving as both a teacher and the Director of Early Childhood Education for nine years. I’ve always believed in educating the whole child and have been a strong advocate for inclusion and meaningful family involvement. Now retired, I’m pursuing my passion as an artist while continuing to serve children and families in a new capacity. Joining the board at Montrose Classical Academy allows me to support a school whose values deeply resonate with my own. I’m excited to help cultivate a learning environment that honors the potential of every child.

I’ve been married for 33 years, and we have two wonderful daughters and twin granddaughters who inspire me every day.
