Our Story

MCA began as a grassroots initiative led by local families seeking a better educational in Montrose County. In 2024, a founding team came together with a shared vision: creating a content-rich, knowledge-focused school that would prepare students for lifelong success.

The founding team conducted extensive community outreach, including bilingual information sessions, neighborhood meetings, and more. 

After studying high-performing Core Knowledge schools throughout Colorado and the United States, the team developed a charter application that combined proven educational practices with specific supports for Montrose's diverse student population. This application received approval from the Colorado State Board of Education the local Montrose County School District in September 2025, paving the way for MCA's opening in Fall 2026.
